Legendary Long Island rock band,Johnny Finger began with Paul, Lou and a 4-track. From these now famous demo session, most of the bands early material emerged. (Such masterworks as Tims Rendevouz unfortunately never made it to the full band yet to this day remain an American classic.) Paul and Lou knew they were on to something. Something huge, something amazing, something...weird.

Then co-worker of the two, Matt was recruited to join the fold followed by the teen drumming sensation Sean. The circle was now complete. LI and Sean’s room would never be the same.

Dubbing themselves Johnny Finger, after a local nutcase of the same name (known for flipping the bird uncontrollably) they quickly got to work. Soon after joining the band, Matt's style of play quickly changed its direction for the better. The band started to find its own unique sound, influenced by their own distinct musical backgrounds. It was during this time that songs like 15 Degrees Down and Blunt Object took shape.

No one could have predicted what happened next. The legend goes as follows: One day before practice, Lou was noodling on his guitar when he was prompted by Paul who showed particular interest in what he was playing. Reaching for his famous Lyric Book, Paul began to sing along with the chords, spewing out a melody about a 40 inch tall, former child actor. To Matt’s dismay, the epic song Emanuel Lewis was born.

The song would become the bands most famous and hated at the same time. Vastly different from the rest of Johnny Fingers catalog, it was requested at almost every one of the bands at least 7 shows over its 2 year existence.

After recording their demo, closing numerous bars, and rocking the LI scene..."The Finger" disbanded in 1999, mostly due to Sean’s weekly haircut habit.

To date, the members of Johnny Finger remain friends, and cherish their short time together that changed the musical landscape of Long Island. ON occasion their past is brought back to life in the form of this encounter or something very similar:

"Hey! Weren't you in that band that had that song about Webster?"

"Yeah...now gimmie my damn cold cuts"
